WHAT's
A MISHPUCHA?
“Mishpucha” means “family, or someone like family" in both Hebrew and Yiddish. And that's what this group is all about. Founded in 2015, we started small with a pop-up "tot shabbat" in Cody & Rebecca Harris's living room. We were just hoping to bring some Jewish families together in an fun and informal way. We grew quickly, as word spread from one family to another.
In 2017, we became kosher -- we are now a registered 501(c)(3) organization based in Marin County, California. We are a DIY community, led by a group of volunteers, unaffiliated with any synagogue or institution. We gather to celebrate Jewish community, holidays, and other aspects of Jewish culture, to perform acts of service for the community, and to help instill Jewish values and traditions among our children.
All are welcome. Membership is free. Tax-deductible donations, however, are much needed and gratefully accepted!
